and great, you’ve taken university classes on religion, sex and race. that’s fantastic, but what does it matter if you didn’t learn anything? what does it matter if you’ve left it thinking that there is a such thing as “reverse racism” and that it “goes both ways”? somebody told you wrong.
“but i am denying that it is the most important”. if you’re a person of color, you’re in denial. if you’re white, you’re completely right because it is only white people that can CHOOSE not to be concerned with racism. you aren’t being shot dead by police left and right, you’re not being criminalized for being undocumented, and you aren’t constantly having to deal with racial prejudice. it isn’t that important TO YOU. that doesn’t mean it isn’t important to a large portion of the world.
so no, racism is not my calling. racism is something i am forced to deal with because i was born Black is a nation that values White above all else. the fact that you, someone who doesn’t even understand the basics of racism, think my blog is shitty let’s me know i’m doing something right.
and no, i’m not mad. i’m disappointed. i had a lot of respect for Dawkins, and just atheists in general. most of them (most of which are white western males) purport to be people who actually think about things beyond what their society has spoon-fed them. and with religion (Abrahamic ones anyway…), they have. but bring up racism, colonialism, sexism, homophobia, individual realities that are affected by the aforementioned, and they draw a blank. it isn’t because they don’t have the capacity for these things, it because they simply don’t care. the whole idea of Humanism has shown itself to be an idea void of any basis whatsoever.
